This one is from a class assignment. We were to take a word (or a couple of words) and create a visual aspect with them. This could be interpreted in many different ways. I took the words "Philadelphia, Pennsylvania" and tried to create a city landscape with graffiti. "Philadelphia" is written in Times New Roman - all caps (white text) and Pennsylvania is written in Giddyup - all lowercase.

Holy crow, this is awesome! I have no idea how you designers can come up with stuff like this. I am in awe of people who are able to visualize this way.
By the way, Dave Huth is my brother. I think you know him.

Hey Andrew!
okay first off, I'm honored that you checked out my blog; I'm a frequent visitor to your photoblog and am continually impressed with your work. Beautiful.
secondly, thanks for the kind words and I'm glad that you liked it! I really enjoy playing with different texts and fonts. I'm working more in printmaking and book arts now but am habitually drawn back to my love of design and typography.
Thanks for the note,
Cheers!
Amanda
wow, this is nice. i just happened to come across your site because i am interest in the book arts/printmaking. i would love to go to grad school but i don't have the $$. looking at your blog it makes me jealous (in a good way) maybe i will get my act together. thanks for your blog. - jamie
Hey Jamie,
I'm excited that you found my blog and liked it! The book arts/printmaking world is pretty much awesome...lots of exciting things happening; I'm enjoying it a lot.
I'm not sure if anybody can really afford Graduate school (or even undergraduate these days) but I somehow was able to come to terms with spending thousands of dollars on my education. Most MFA programs offer some sort of assistantship/fellowship opportunities to help bear the brunt of tuition costs. But if it's really what you want and love to do (and especially if you want to teach someday) I definitely think it's worth it. You get two (sometimes three) full years to devote solely to your work and you make tons of connections. All in all, It's a lot of fun and I'm loving it. But you have to do what's best for you.
So good luck and thanks again for the comments!
