Testing it out...

I've been taking this screen printing class and trying to experiment with how my drawing style can translate into prints... this is one of those of those experiments and I was really happy with how the duo-tone tree turned out. I'm still working on it... here's some close ups:

(the background is one solid color, but the light makes it look funky)

oh and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thats pretty awesome and encouraging. I love drawing with hatching and stippling, so its nice that it can translate to sreenprinting so well.

How did you go about making the positives? It looks like it would be hard to do and have it look right.

Hey Mike,

I drew the original piece and then scanned it in because I wanted it enlarged. I printed it on bond paper and made my screen from there with a 2.5 min exposure. When I scanned my image in I left one as it was and punched up the contrast with the other to make 2 different screens and get the duo tone effect. Worked pretty well, I have Marisha to thank for that idea.

With the next one I'm going to try just drawing directly onto frosted Mylar and see how that works out.
